Come Write With Me

Letter Writing as a Spiritual Practice #2

The class has re-ignited a regular practice of journaling for me where I can write and organize all the brain body soul happenings through the written medium. It felt really important to be able to develop this weekly in class, with set times (a good chunk of bounded time) and with other people (body doubling tripling quadrupling). It was wonderful getting to come together right away after writing to integrate and process with this brilliant group of people.

Dear Comrades,

I am writing to invite you to participate in my second offering of Letter Writing as a Spiritual Practice. We start next Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 3-5pm EST and meet for 8 Sundays, with no class on Sunday, March 8. This course is open to everyone (please note this change from what I have announced in the past).

We will focus on creating our own anti-war archives. Our writing will be informed by Anne Frank’s The Diary of a Young Girl and Rainer Maria Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet. We will also be inspired by my own personal writing routines, which allow me to be in deep conversation with myself and the world around me.

This course will be different from the first time I offered it. We will imagine a new future together. We will do so by way of writing letters.

I didn’t know how to articulate the genius learned just from being your friend.

So I finally knew what was right for my letter to you. I have been writing and conceptualizing what I want to make of your documentary one day. The smaller text is just historical notes I want to go through and figure out what archival footage and reduce to cohesive scenes not endless historical information. This documentary is about YOU, but need a bit of history but won’t be a historical epic (they are just long notes and research starters). Past the notes; for you. A sample interview. Just the first most rough draft. I love you; you are an incredible soul the world has been blessed with! Keep succeeding and succeeding and we will have more to add!

I am asking for contributions of $300-600 to participate in Letter Writing as a Spiritual Practice #2. I am a self-funded activist and artist. Please reach out to me directly by replying to this email if you would like to sign up.

This class is appropriate for writers of all levels. My only requirement is that you are willing to write towards a new future. I do not care to sit in a place of helplessness, now or ever.

I move away from such feelings by way of my writing. I am offering this class so I can continue to support and create stability for myself. I, myself, have been overwhelmed with the state of the world, which is why you have not gotten this email sooner.

I love this class, it felt more expansive than a classroom or a course so class feels like a limiting way to describe it, but such is the challenge of the English language. The parts that shine most brightly to me have been getting to know others within the community, hearing their stories, learning about their lives and getting to write together. This course as a community space will be the most lasting impression I take from the course.

I am sending this email now as an act of my belief in myself. I am sending this email now as an expression of commitment to myself. Come write with me.

I am offering this class to support myself as I move away from my old life, and into my new life. I have changed myself completely since I left the food and beverage industry in March 2020. Come write with me.

I would appreciate your support. I need your support. Please come write with me.

Love, Ryan <3

You know how much I admire and am inspired by you. I’ll say it again though. You are a force of change and love and hope!
