Bi-Monthly By Ryan #5

A twice monthly newsletter by Ryan Jafar Artes

Dear Friends,

Last May, the professors of MFA Seminars interviewed me about my DIY MFA. This was when I first had the idea to create an author newsletter, which has come to fruition a year later. I have since completed my self-designed program I implemented on my own.

As I explain in the interview, I created a huge body of work in a short time. My final count is 19 projects, 8 of which are poetry projects and 11 of which are prose projects, all of which I am excited to progress towards publication, in both tradition and nontraditional, and conventional and unconventional ways. Part of my writing process is to prioritize my own writing, which is why tasks such as this email can sometimes slip away from my attention.

In exactly one month from today, I will be emceeing the opening night of the first ever BIPOC Adoptees Conference in Portland, OR. The evening will showcase the talents of our community, for ourselves, and I am so excited to be facilitating the event. I am looking forward to spending time in community with fellow Brown and Black adoptees.

Thank you for your attention. Many of you are here because I met you at an event or already know you. I appreciate all of you for reading my emails, and always love receiving your responses and cheers.

Love, Ryan <3
