A twice monthly newsletter by Ryan Jafar Artes
Ryan Jafar Artes, taken by myself. I took this photo of myself while walking along the Susquehanna, as I do. Sometimes I walk in silence and sometimes I talk on the phone.
Dear Friends,
I had such an incredible weekend at A Day of Belonging! On Friday night, I shared my poem “Smoke Is the Ghost of Fire” at United Against Silence. I also got to do one of my poetic records of the evening, which was so special to do for a room filled with poets whose work I adore.
I connected in-person with some of my favorite poets, with whom I gather regularly to write poetry in Zoom rooms. Through the act of writing together and sharing our work with each other, we are already famous amongst ourselves. We are so familiar with each others stories because we have been writing together for years now, which is such a lovely way to know each other.
If you follow me on Instagram @ryanartespoet, this will sound familiar to you, as it was inspired by my most recent post. Please follow me there if you do not do so already. I truly enjoyed my time at A Day of Belonging and was excited to tell all of you.
I am busy preparing to teach my second run of Letters to Our Homes. There are spots left so just reply to this email if you would like to sign up! I am super excited to write with everyone who has joined so far.
As always, thanks for your attention. As always, I love hearing from you! As always, I am very behind with replying to emails, so I thank you for your patience if you are expecting a reply from me.
Love, Ryan <3
I am sharing my flyer for Letters to Our Homes one last time in my newsletter, and will be doing the same on Instagram. I would love to write with you! Reply to this email to sign up.
